Common Pains at Work That Require a Chiropractic Visit
At Williams Chiropractic & Decompression Center, several of our patients deal with aches and pains from their jobs. Here are the most common pains that may indicate you need to schedule a visit with a chiropractic doctor.
Various jobs can cause back pain. Whether you're sitting at a desk or in a vehicle for eight hours a day, standing still on your feet, or engaging in manual labor and heavy lifting, it can take a toll on your back. The upper back and shoulders or lower back most commonly experience pain, but some people have pain all over. Improper positioning during these activities or a poor work setup can exacerbate back pain.
Neck pain can occur for reasons similar to back pain. Poor posture, perhaps because you must look at a screen that is not properly positioned, can make your neck hurt. Straining your neck can lead to tenseness that spreads, which is why back and neck pain often occur at the same time. A chiropractor is especially skilled at using adjustments to relieve neck pain quickly and effectively.
Another common pain caused by work is wrist pain. Repetitive motions as well as working mainly at a computer can contribute to wrist pain, potentially leading to conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome. Arthritis and strains can also be a cause of wrist pain.
Both standing still or frequent walking can lead to foot pain, especially on hard flooring or if you do not have adequate footwear. Unfortunately, foot pain often comes with leg, knee, or hip pain. You may even experience pain in other parts of your body that originates in your feet even if your feet aren't particularly painful.
Of course, any body part can become painful depending on your job. Not only can chiropractic care provide some immediate and ongoing pain relief, but the doctor may be able to help you reduce work-related pain in the future.
